Circular Carbon Economy Framework

Saudi Arabia has pioneered the Circular Carbon Economy (CCE) framework, a pragmatic approach to climate change that acknowledges the continued role of hydrocarbons while aggressively pursuing emissions reduction. The CCE framework was endorsed by the G20 during Saudi Arabia's presidency in 2020. The Kingdom has committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, backed by $186 billion in investments across renewable energy, hydrogen, carbon capture, and energy efficiency technologies.
